The basics

No. Copper has read-only access to your bank through Plaid and can’t move, send or withdraw money. Buckets are virtual: your money stays in your accounts, and a bucket is a record of what it’s for. See Buckets.
Left-to-spend starts with your checking and savings balances, then subtracts everything set aside in buckets and any pending charges. Your bank balance doesn’t know about either. Tap the number on the Dashboard to see the breakdown. See Left-to-Spend.
Your buckets hold more than your accounts do, so Copper shows Over-allocated. It usually happens after a funding run or a big purchase. Lower a spending or goal bucket to free up money, or wait for your next deposit. Heads-up alerts warn you before bills push it below zero.
Yes. The web app opens the same budget, with keyboard shortcuts and a command menu. Changes sync between the two almost instantly. See Copper on the web.
Yes. In Settings, tap Add New Budget under Budgets. Tap a budget in the list to switch to it. Each budget has its own buckets, banks, schedules and color theme.

Banks and syncing

Copper’s servers sync your banks throughout the day, and right away when Plaid reports new activity. Pulling to refresh reloads what’s already synced. If you use Apple Pay, Apple Pay logging shows a purchase the moment you tap.
Your bank wants you to sign in again. Open it in Settings › Connected Accounts and tap Reconnect. Your accounts and history stay as they are. See Connect a bank.
When you first link a bank, Copper brings in up to two years of history. Anything older than a week arrives quietly, without buckets, so old purchases don’t drain your new buckets. Rules also apply only to new transactions. You can still open any transaction and choose a bucket.
Open the transaction, tap the bucket and pick the right one. The money moves back to the old bucket and comes out of the new one. To send that merchant somewhere every time, turn on Always assign. See Auto-assign rules.

Budgeting

A paycheck only counts if it’s from the same payer and at least half the usual amount, and lands no more than 4 days before payday (2 for weekly pay). If it’s late, the schedule runs anyway 3 days after payday. See Paychecks.
Not with Pause when money’s tight on. Round-ups then stop while a heads-up is active and never take left-to-spend below $0. With it off, they keep going regardless. See Round-ups.
A card bucket only catches purchases made after you switched the card on. Tap Cover the rest in Settings › Credit Card Buckets to set aside what you already owe. See Credit cards.

Plans and sharing

No. Plans only limit how many banks each person can link. Someone who joins your budget and doesn’t link a bank doesn’t need a plan. See Plans & billing.
You keep it until the end of the period you’ve paid for. After that, Copper disconnects your linked banks and they stop updating. Your budgets, buckets and history stay, and you can link again after you resubscribe.
Everyone on a shared budget sees its buckets, bills, transactions and linked accounts. For something you’d rather keep to yourself, like a gift fund, create a private bucket. Its total still counts in left-to-spend, but only you see its name and activity.
Go to Settings and tap Delete Account. It disconnects every bank at Plaid and permanently deletes your budgets, buckets and transactions. Cancel any App Store subscription separately. See Export & delete.
